Job Safety AnalysisAn integral part of any safety program is the use of Job Safety Analysis (JSA). This document is designed to assist companies in breaking down specific job tasks step-by-step to determine possible hazards associated to each and the associated controls to minimize the hazard to the employee. The completed JSA form is used in the initial training of new employees as well as remedial training tools for current employees. Each major job function on significant machinery or hazardous job tasks should have a written Job Safety Analysis developed and communicated to all affected employees. The JSA should be posted at the job site or readily available for easy review by employees. Documentation And RecordkeepingAll supervisory personnel should be carefully trained in proper Documentation and Record Keeping systems with emphasis placed on the critical importance of this procedure. If OSHA makes a visit to your facility, the successful implementation of your Safety Program will be judged mostly by its Documentation and Recordkeeping practices, making this one of the most important training and program elements. Safety Inspections and Hazard RecognitionAll department heads, supervisors, and safety committee members should be trained in your safety program's inspection procedures and hazard recognition, and how to take proper corrective action. This program takes personnel through a step-by-step process of hazard recognition to and through the corrective action and documentation process. Emphasis is placed on the education of the identification of hazards, the potential for an incident or accident, the responsibility for taking corrective action, and prevention. This is part of the required OSHA training per Section 3202 of T8CCR.
